The implication? Honoring missing American soldiers was somehow a way to avoid \u201cinclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s stop right there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can wave a rainbow, a cross, or a Gadsden flag all you want\u2014but <strong>no flag matters more than the one that drapes a coffin<\/strong>, lowered into the ground after a young man or woman gave everything for a country that barely remembers them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Viral Moment That Hit a Nerve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The activist said, \u201cThere are 20 million LGBTQ Americans, and only 82,000 MIAs.\u201d That\u2019s the logic. That\u2019s the argument. That\u2019s the \u201cmath\u201d they used to justify the idea that honoring the dead is somehow exclusionary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this wasn\u2019t just bad logic. It was <strong>insulting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a fiery response, the mayor\u2014clearly emotional and righteously furious\u2014hit back:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis country was founded because veterans lost their lives. Hundreds of thousands of people died for this country so that you could fly your pride flag. And man, I am pissed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And rightfully so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because comparing <strong>demands for symbolic representation<\/strong> to the <strong>final, irreversible sacrifice of life itself<\/strong> is not just intellectually dishonest\u2014it\u2019s <strong>morally bankrupt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The POW\/MIA Flag Isn't a Political Statement\u2014It's a National Duty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The POW\/MIA flag doesn\u2019t belong to a \u201cpolitical side.\u201d It belongs to <strong>all Americans<\/strong>. It represents the <strong>82,000+ soldiers<\/strong> who never came home\u2014who never got to hold their children, kiss their spouses goodbye, or walk off the battlefield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To suggest that remembering them is a tactic to avoid celebrating another group\u2019s identity is not only tone-deaf\u2014<strong>it\u2019s an embarrassment to decency.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The activist said, \u201cLet\u2019s have some intellectual integrity.\u201d<br>Okay\u2014let\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sacrifice Isn\u2019t Equal, and That\u2019s the Point<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This may sound harsh, but it needs to be said: <strong>not all forms of struggle are equal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, members of the LGBTQ community have faced real injustice. But <strong>a flag flown in June to recognize sexual identity cannot and should not be equated with the flag flown for soldiers who were tortured, executed, or never found<\/strong> after laying down their lives for our nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don't have to be straight, conservative, or even patriotic to understand that.<br>You just have to be <strong>human<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veterans and PRIDE: Can Both Coexist? Sure. But Not Equally.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the Disruptarian position: if your cause <strong>requires diminishing someone else\u2019s sacrifice<\/strong> to elevate your own, your cause is broken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to fly the Pride flag? Fine. This is America.<br>But when you <strong>accuse others of bigotry<\/strong> for honoring those who gave their lives for the flag that gives you that freedom, you\u2019ve lost the plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve reached a dangerous cultural tipping point where <strong>inclusion has become entitlement<\/strong>, and where identity is weaponized to overwrite honor. That\u2019s not progress. That\u2019s <strong>cultural rot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We Should Really Be Teaching<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We need to return to basic civic understanding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Flags don\u2019t make you special\u2014your actions do.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Veterans aren\u2019t props\u2014they\u2019re protectors.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Freedom doesn\u2019t come from hashtags\u2014it comes from heroism.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want your flag flown, earn it through service\u2014not through shaming. And never again let someone stand at a public meeting and call the honoring of the dead \u201cdisgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That mayor didn\u2019t \u201close his cool.\u201d<br>He defended what\u2019s sacred.<br><strong>And we need a thousand more like him.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Thought: Fly Your Flag\u2014But Salute Theirs First<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fly your Pride flag, your Blue Lives Matter flag, your Don\u2019t Tread on Me flag. Fly them all. But fly the <strong>POW\/MIA flag<\/strong> first. Because <strong>those are the people who made it possible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if that offends you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s your right.
