It showed a content creator called \u201cJolly Good Ginger\u201d basically celebrating the idea of Charlie Kirk getting shot and killed. Smirking. Laughing. Suggesting it would be \u201ckarma\u201d if it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And what stunned me wasn\u2019t just the clip itself\u2014it was the reaction to it. Applause. Shares. Likes. One I\u2019ve seen a lot is: \u201cYou need a license to drive, why shouldn\u2019t you need one to own a gun?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s break this down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving is a privilege. It\u2019s a government-regulated activity that exists because of modern infrastructure and legal code. You pass a test, you follow traffic laws, and the state lets you operate a vehicle on public roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owning a firearm is a <strong>right<\/strong>. It's written into the Constitution. It\u2019s not about convenience or recreation. It\u2019s about the fundamental human right to self-preservation. Against criminals, yes. But more importantly, against government overreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, rights come with responsibilities. That\u2019s true. But they are not permissions handed down from the state. They are protections <strong>from<\/strong> the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you think your right to bear arms should be regulated like driving, you don\u2019t understand the purpose of the Second Amendment. Or worse, you do\u2014and you just don\u2019t care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Danger of Celebrating Political Violence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me share something personal. I\u2019ve got a family member who\u2019s gay, pro-Second Amendment, owns multiple firearms, knows gun safety, all that. Smart guy. Libertarian-leaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, I saw him share the Jolly Good Ginger clip with the caption \u201ckarma\u2019s a bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is someone who <strong>knows<\/strong> the weight of what a gun can do. Who knows how serious lethal force is. And here he is cheering the idea of a political opponent dying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That shook me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If people like him\u2014people who own guns, support liberty, and understand constitutional rights\u2014are falling into this tribal \u201crah rah my team\u201d mindset, we\u2019re in trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the Second Amendment isn't a team jersey. It's a check against tyranny. It\u2019s not about who you like or don\u2019t like. It\u2019s about the principle behind the power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Madison Actually Said<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people haven\u2019t read <strong>Federalist Paper No. 46<\/strong>, but they should. James Madison laid out the case for an armed citizenry as a final safeguard against a centralized, overreaching federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He wasn\u2019t talking about hunting deer. He was talking about <strong>resistance<\/strong> to tyranny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The structure was intentional. The Founders put <strong>freedom of speech<\/strong> and <strong>freedom of religion<\/strong> in the First Amendment. Then they immediately followed with the Second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because speech without defense is just noise. The right to speak freely means nothing if the government can disarm you when it doesn\u2019t like what you say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now, in 2025, we have people who <em>own guns<\/em> celebrating the idea of their political rivals getting killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t have it both ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Don\u2019t Believe in Liberty if You Cheer for Death<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s break it down to basics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you support the Second Amendment because you believe in resisting tyranny, then you can\u2019t cheer for violence against people who disagree with you politically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the second you do that, you\u2019re justifying tyranny. You\u2019re saying violence is okay\u2014as long as it\u2019s <strong>your side<\/strong> doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not liberty. That\u2019s tribalism. That\u2019s mob rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the same logic used by authoritarians throughout history. Stalin did it. Mao did it. Pinochet did it. They all claimed they were protecting the people\u2014by silencing or eliminating \u201cdangerous\u201d voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the road we\u2019re on if we don\u2019t check ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical Advice for Liberty-Minded Americans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you actually care about liberty and not just scoring points online, here are a few things to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Take a Gun Safety Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you don\u2019t own a firearm, do it. Understand what lethal force really means. It\u2019ll change your perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Read the Founders<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with Madison, George Mason, and Patrick Henry. Understand the context of why the Second Amendment exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Stop Cheering for Death<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t care how much you hate someone\u2019s politics. Silence is agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rights Aren\u2019t About Comfort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the uncomfortable truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Free speech means protecting speech you hate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Second Amendment means protecting rights you might never use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liberty means tolerating things that make you uncomfortable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We don\u2019t get to pick and choose which parts of the Constitution we like and ignore the rest. That\u2019s not how this works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re either for liberty or you\u2019re not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if you only support the Second Amendment because your team is winning right now, you don\u2019t believe in the right. It\u2019s about the slow breakdown of principled thinking in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve traded ideas for insults. We\u2019ve traded reason for reaction. We\u2019ve traded rights for rhetoric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s not just \u201cthe other side\u201d doing it. We\u2019ve got people on the right, people who claim to love the Constitution, acting like political violence is some kind of game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we go down that path, we all lose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Thought<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t about being nice. This is about being <strong>serious<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t defend the Second Amendment while laughing about the idea of shooting your political enemies.
