Range Rover brake pads cost so much, is the quote fair?
My Range Rover Sport is four years old, and last week the dashboard showed a brake pad warning. I took it to a workshop in Dubai, and the quote for the front pads and discs made me stare at the paper for a full minute. The advisor said it is normal for a heavy luxury SUV, but I could not tell if he was being honest. The car has about seventy thousand kilometres, and I do a lot of stop and go driving to work. I looked online for a Premium Range Rover brake pad replacement in Dubai, but every page said best quality and best price, so I still do not know what a fair number looks like. A friend with the same car says the dealer charges almost double, and that a good independent shop uses the same quality parts. Another friend says only genuine parts are safe on a car this heavy. Do the pads and discs always need to be changed together on a Range Rover? Does the warning light mean the pads are finished, or do I still have some time? Is a sensor wire replaced every time, and does that cost extra? Is it normal for the shop to reset the warning after the job? Also, how long does the job take, and can I wait there? If you changed brakes on your Range Rover lately, please tell me what you paid, what parts you chose, and what you would do differently. Easy answers help me most.
