Is a premium Infiniti service contract for Abu Dhabi owners worth it?
I’ve been going back and forth on whether to sign up for one of those service contracts ever since I bought my 2018 Q50 last year, and I still can’t decide if it’s worth the money or just a way for the dealer to lock me in. The car is now out of its original warranty and I’m facing the usual list of things that start going wrong around the 100,000 kilometre mark, brakes, fluids, filters, and the odd sensor that decides to fail at the worst possible moment. A colleague mentioned he pays monthly for a premium Infiniti service contract for Abu Dhabi owners and swears it’s saved him a fortune because everything is covered and he doesn’t get surprise bills, but another friend told me he did the maths and found it was cheaper to just pay as he went, especially since he uses an independent garage rather than the main dealer. The thing is I’m not good with surprises, financially speaking, and the idea of a fixed monthly cost appeals to me even if it works out slightly more expensive overall. What I want to know is whether anyone here has actually signed up for one of these and whether it lived up to the promise when something actually went wrong. Did they cover everything without arguing, or did they find excuses to exclude things? Did the price go up after the first year? And can you use it at independent garages or are you tied to the dealer network, which would mean paying dealer prices for anything not covered. Any honest experiences would be appreciated because I’d rather know now whether these things are genuinely useful or just a way to part me from my money.
